Family Visit to SM Mall Of Asia

Family Lunch at Kenny Roger's Restaurant

After Joshua and I attended the Gawad Kalinga Expo at the SM Mall of Asia grounds last October 2006, i promised my whole family that we'll visit that newly built super mall in the near future. On November 19 of the same year, i made good on that promise.
Dubbed as the third largest mall in the whole world and the largest (i heard) in Asia, SM Mall of Asia or MOA naturally attracts locals and tourists alike, curious what the big fuzz is all about. My family of course, was no exception.
After several rides from our residence in the northern part of Metro Manila, we had several roll of film developed and prints and picture CD ordered at the local Kodak Express inside the SM Department Store. We decided to have lunch first at Kenny Roger's before roaming around this commercial jungle. The restaurant was a little crampy i must say, but the food was good and we were as usual, running on a budget - a small budget. Ergo, we couldn't try out the more expensive fine dining restaurants found all over the complex. After our rather limited gastronomic break, we set out to go all over the place!

It's really a small world! We actually met Bro. Eman and Sis. Baby Vilela, our Cluster Couple Coordinators for the Kids for Christ (KFC) family ministry in North B-1 at the MOA later in the afternoon. They actually lived farther than us from this place but there we were at the other end of megapolis.
Personally, all the SM shopping malls look the same to me. I think the architecture is still more or less uniform up to now. So then the MOA strikes me as a bigger version of the earlier branches. Of course one exception stands out, SM Baguio with its unique design and natural air-conditioning!

That's not to say that MOA isn't the shopping mecca it was all hyped to be. But the great distance is a consideration i simply cannot ignore, with or without a family vehicle. You wouldn't find me yearning to go there every so often.
Still, because one day wasn't enough for us to cover every little corner of this vast expanse on our first family visit, i have a nagging feeling it wouldn't be our last to this notable commercial landmark.
